Featured Fest: Nice n Sleazy

For this weeks featured festival, we travel up to the land of fishing and hot pots for a weekend of punk and ska in seaside resort of Morcambe, Lancashire for Nice N Sleazy 2014.


Returning for it’s 9th year, The Trimpell Club in central Morcambe plays host to one of the best boutique rock festivals around, with over 60 punk, acoustic and ska bands and comedians performing over two stages, taking place on the May Bank Holiday of Friday 23rd to Sunday 25th of May.

The Friday night welcomes 11 different bands to the North East, including veteran hardcore punk band Discharge, a band which have been credited with helping form the grindcore scene back in the 80’s, along which influencing bands such as Napalm Death, Bathory and Hellhammer.

On Saturday you can spend all day listening to massive punk and ska anthems from over 28 different bands, topped off by London rock band 999, which have been touring the UK since the mid 70’s, releasing 12 studio albums and the seminal punk single Nasty Nasty.

Topping off the weekend, 27 bands combine to make Sunday a must see if you enjoy acoustic punk and rockabilly rock, with Roddy Radiation, formerly of The Specials, bringing his new band The Skabilly Rebels to finish off the weekend with their ska-punk styling’s.

Weekend tickets start at £45 (with £1 booking fee), this includes free on-site camping from Friday to Monday, with free entry for children under 14 (Max 2).
