With over 149 bands, 5 massive dog house parties and 4 tribes coming together, this years Download Festival is gearing up to be a must see if you like your music loud, hard and filled with epic riffs.
After 11 years of massive bands playing in front of up to 100,000 people, you would think it would be pretty hard to top what has gone before, but it looks like the organizers have once again struck gold and put together another huge line-up including the likes of Avenged Sevenfold, Linkin Park, The Offspring, Status Quo, Trivium and Aerosmith.
Taking place from the 13th till the 15th of June, some of the biggest news about this years festival is the chance to hear not one, but two amazing albums in their entirety, on the Friday night you can hear The Offspring celebrate the twentieth anniversary of their 3rd studio album Smash by playing the whole thing, including ‘Come Out and Play’, ‘Gotta Get Away‘ and ‘Self Esteem’.
This will be followed up on the Saturday night by Californian alt-rockers Linkin Park devoting their set to their 2000 breakthrough album Hybrid Theory, the album that gave us the likes of ‘In the End’, ‘Papercut’ and ‘Crawling’ and made the band a household name ever since.
Download is a truly mammoth festival, with 5 stages containing a unique line up, making sure that practically every genre of rock and metal imaginable is covered, with the biggest bands being split between the Main Stage and Zippo Encore Stage.
The Red Bull Studios Live Stage is the place to go to have a sing and a dance with bands, including Battlecross, Zebrahead and Page 44, but if you fancy a more laid back type of rock and alt music, then the Jägermeister Acoustic Stage is the place to be.

It’s not just the live bands that will keep you busy for the weekend, with The Doghouse in the Village becoming the place to go to see some of UK’s the best rock DJ’s and guest spots each playing massive tunes late into the night, meaning you don’t have to stop partying when the bands stop playing.
For the full line-up and the most up to date information, you can now download the official festival app completely free from both the iOS and Android stores, this will help you plan out your weekend and to help you navigate your way around the huge festival site.
It also includes a map and interactive schedule of the weekend and that’s not all when it comes to making the festival more high-tech, for the first time Download have launched Tribes, a new site that sorts you into one of four tribes: The Kindred Rebellion, Lethal Chaos, Wayward Nomads and Immense Defiance.
A cool new way of allowing you a chance to connect with friends and fellow like-minded people before the festival, giving you somewhere where you can share plans and tell tales of years past, while also giving you chance to win some pretty cool prizes, some of which will be at the festival itself, think Game of Thrones but sadly without Tyrion Lannister….
