The release of former My Chemical Romance’s guitarist, Frnkiero And The Cellabration’s debut album ‘Stomachaches’ is something everyone has been waiting for and it is unlike anything you’d have heard from him before. It is not like anything My Chemical Romance or even Iero’s other band Leathermouth has released. It has a DIY feel to it which is aesthetically pleasing.
The album starts with the track ‘All I Want Is Nothing’. The track starts by sounding like the band is doing sound check but blows you away as the song progresses with its guitar riffs and distinct drum beat allowing Iero’s vocals to show their true potential. The track is incredibly catchy showing a positive sign about the rest of the album. ‘Weighted’ is next and it continues on with the raw edgy sound that the initial track started the album with. In this single, Iero plays every instrument except for the drums (which are played by ex-My Chemical Romance’s Jarrod Alexander) and you can’t help but take the time to listen and appreciate the talent this one man has. This is the track that will make this band known everywhere. ‘Blood Infections’ is next and it is definitely for the fans of the early-era of My Chemical Romance as it has the distortion pedals, and vocals that is much like MCR’s sophomore album.
The songs and the music are fun, fast and energetic and this is what an album should be all about. The track ‘Neverenders’ is proof of this, the track is the highlight of the album as it is 1:58 minutes of pure flawlessness. Iero’s throaty, raspy vocals adding an edge to the song that was needed. Another fast paced addition to the album is ‘She’s The Prettiest Girl At The Party And She Can Prove It With A Solid Right Hook’ (such a Fall Out Boy style name). This track is something needed to help break the songs up as it begins much calmer and slower than any of the previous tracks. The quick light guitar introduction added with the drum beat in the back builds up emotion that complements Iero’s vocals and lyrics. It takes on quite a theatrical approach quite like MRC’s later work.
‘Stomachaches’ has a rough around the edge charm to it and completely destroys the void of MCR through with a punk storm. The album will have people shocked as Iero breaks the mould as he has created an album with a unique sound that will without a doubt have people praising his talent and hard work.
